4 out of 5 stars i like dr. brandt product   October 8, 2008
the smell makes me feel like it's gonna cure my acne ;)
i bought it because of the moisturizer and thought it was pretty good deal but still the container was too tiny and the kit was expensive still...
about how it's working on my skin? hm.. not sure if it's doing anything or not doing anything..

2 out of 5 stars Not Worth The Money   August 26, 2008

I have had problem skin for years. I get cystic acne in the lower corners of my mouth and on the lower part of my cheeks. I have huge pores next to my nose and in-between my eyebrows and I have oily, shiny skin. I normally use ProActiv, but I started to become insensitive to it and was breaking out worse than ever! So I headed to the mall to find something to hold me over for a while until my skin could be ProActiv ready again...

When I went to Sephora and looked at the Dr. Brandt poreless line, I decided to ask a representative about it to see what she would say. She RAVED ABOUT IT. I hated that it was so expensive and being a poor college kid, I was mildly disappointed to hear that she loved it so much! Haha. BUT, I figured that I would suck it up and spend the 55 bucks and that if she was right it would be worth it in the end.

As I believe, most people buy this line to get rid of their large pores? It didn't work for me. My pores didn't seem smaller, but I guess they didn't seem bigger either. It did not tone down the excess oil that my skin produces and at night when I got home from a long day my skin seemed far more oily than it did before I started using this line. Another bad effect that I had was that I started breaking out in other areas, like the apples of my cheeks and in the middle of my forehead. I also don't like how it smells and I can never figure out when to use what item! Some say "use AM" and that's easy enough, but everything else says "use AM or PM" and I can never figure out the smartest way to use everything. Maybe that's a lot of my problem! But I appreciate simplicity and this is NOT a simple product to use. I THINK THAT'S THE MOST IMPORTANT THING ALL CONSUMERS HAVE TO KNOW. IT IS NOT A SIMPLE 1, 2, 3 REGIMEN. Lastly, after use I find my skin to feel sticky and it looks like my face is sopping wet. Overall, I don't think it's worth the 55 dollars that I spent on it.

BUT I loved the microdermabrasion sample that came with this kit! You can feel it sloughing off your dead skin cells and it's nice that you only have to use it twice a week or so. Exfoliation is veryyy important to me now!
The lady at Sephora also gave me the Dr. Brandt poreless face mask and that stuff is AMAZING. It makes my skin feel so soft, and you also only have to use it twice a week as well. It doesn't smell quite as nasty and it can be used as an overnight spot treatment with average results. It's best quality is how it makes your skin feel. I'm going to buy more of those two things, but I wasn't happy at all with anything else in this "test" kit.

Everyone is different, of course, but if your skin sounds like mine (ie: my first paragraph) I wouldn't recommend this product.

1 out of 5 stars Doesn't live up to the hype   April 1, 2008

After reading the wonderful reviews for this item, I planned to head to the sephora store to buy the kit and the pores no more. When I went to the store, I tried the pores no more, and wasn't too impressed with the result. I decided upon buying the kit, as it had a sample of the pores no more in it- so I figured I could try it out with the whole regimine to see if that would help. When I took the product to the counter, the saleswoman raved about Dr. Brandt's product line and said how she had converted all of her beauty products to his line.
I thought that was pretty impressive, considering how many products exist in the sephora store...I couldn't wait to try out my new buy, and I anticipated many days free of foundation and concealer. I will say that the wash and the toner do their job, and my face feels "clean" afterwards, but nothing spectacular. Its a equal to, or a little less than the "clean" I feel after washing with a $5 face wash.
The pore effect cream and the poreless gel were the most disappointing. I read the reviews of feeling clean, fresh and how this product really helps to hide your pores. I haven't gotten any of these results. The poreless gel doesn't feel light-weight, in fact, it stays tacky like the sticky part of the post-it note...until it becomes progressively oilier throughout the day. I'm not too hot about the cream either, as both products really create a nice "shine" to my forehead and cheeks. The surprising part about the whole regimine is that I have used the whole set for 4 days, and actually have more blackheads and have broken out in some parts of my face. Boo.
I am not sure if my results are simply because I live in a warm, more humid environment...but I have combination/oily skin. Overall, I would not recommend this product and will not buy it again. I am happy I have purchased this product from a place that takes back products that don't live up to their claim...as this will be the first product that I will ever return used. Some reviewers have written that it took a little while for them to see the results..for me, four days has shown me quite enough.

5 out of 5 stars Multiple steps for real results   November 2, 2007

If you've got the time for a multiple step skin care regimen like I do (religiously), then you will enjoy trying this reasonably priced concoction of oil-reducing products. My only complaint is that it doesn't include "Pores No More"-- the orangey goo product that is my must-have, goto product of 2007 (see my review), but you can get samples of it easily at Sephora. Don't be discouraged by all the steps, just follow the basic rule of thumb for all skin care products: wash first (don't ever skip this step! Imagine painting a dirty wall, ick), then tone, next is serums or gels, next is special treatments (vitamin C, extra oil absorbing products, skin primer, etc) then finally moisturizer with SPF. If you can't remember that, read the insert, or remember: "lightest to thickest" (which ever product is lightest, like toner, goes first, etc). It may take a few days before results become more prominent, but I noticed a difference in my oil levels right away. PS, don't get the face wash in your eyes, OUCH!

3 out of 5 stars What's that smell?   September 27, 2007

I ordered this product based on a sample I received of some night cream and the glowing reviews here. I have only used it twice, but the scent of the cleanser and toner is so obnoxious I am not sure I can stand to keep using it. It really does smell like cheap men's cologne. Luckily I can't smell it on my face all day and I will keep using it because it costs so much, but I wonder why they gave it such a horrible scent. Is it that hard to make something fragrance free or at least with a subtle scent? I am disappointed.
