I am an African American female (28 years old) and have always struggled with my hair. I started taking vitamin supplements for my hair about 6 weeks ago (started with Biotin 2500 and Ultra Nourish Hair by GNC.) Those products worked well but I included this because of all the great reviews. My hair is growing substantially but I don't know if it's the biotin, the Phyto or the Ultra Nourish Hair or the combination. I am very pleased with my results and would recommend this produt with the others if you want fast growing hair (about 1 1/2 to 2 inches per month). On a side note, the other products are less expensive so I might discontinue the use of the Phyto just to see if it makes a real difference and save money.

I started using this product after losing hair from a bad bonding glue style. I had loss in the front and on the sides and was skeptical about it coming back. Seeing shiny spots on my scalp was very disturbing.
I started the vitamins almost 2 months ago, and very soon afterwards, I noticed more eyebrow hair and faster hair growth under my arms--not exactly what I was looking for, but I kept taking the vitamins. I also added twice a week elixir treatments to open up my hair follicles, and now I see new growth on my head, and the hair I already had is thicker. The shiny spots are almost gone, and I also have very, very little hair loss with combing/brushing.
As for my nails, they might be stronger, but I don't think they're growing any faster.
I should add that I've also started taking a multi-vitamin and I've been eating better, which I'm sure has been a help as well. I will continue taking these...I believe they are working.

I started taking this three months ago, so I could grow out my hair to donate it. My hair is thin and black. I am a South Asian woman in her 20s.
Pros: Noticeable difference in the rate of my hair growth. I would say it's 2 inches a month now. (Before the supplements it was about one inch a month.) My nails also grow faster and thicker. I have a nail biting problem -- which I wasn't looking to fix. (I've been unsuccessfully trying to kick this habit since I was seven so I gave up.) But my nails are a little too hard to comfortably bite now, so awesome!
Cons: It really works...beyond just on your scalp. I'm shaving my legs twice a day now.
I didn't notice any difference with the thickness/shininess of my hair, or the thickness/length of my eyebrows or eyelashes. If I pluck or wax my eyebrows, they are back within days.
So I would say it really does work, but it works everywhere! The "con" of faster growing body hair is not so bad, and I think if you wax instead of shave you can still wear skirts and stuff. I'm sticking with it!
Edit July 2008: This was getting to be a real pain for me because I now have to get my body hair waxed all the time during the summer season since it's growing so fast. It is becoming expensive to wax so often, so I decided to discontinue the pills until I'm not wearing skirts or at least bikinis anymore. Longer, healthier scalp hair isn't really worth it for me right now.

I've been using the product for about one month and I can already see a noticeable difference in my hair and nail growth. I have a lot of new growth for my hair and my nails are growing a lot longer than usual. On the bottle, it is recommended that you continue to use the product for four months (two bottles) before you will see the full results. I have three more months to go, but so far I am very pleased. At the end of four months, I will write another review.
