Good productsOctober 15, 2008 I use a lot of Carol's Daughter products, including the body butters. My favorite are the soufflees which are creamy, sweet smelling and just glide on the skin. I used them during and after my pregnancy and my skin is in great condition. I disagree with the previous reviewer. The body butters are for very dry skin and sink in well, even on heels and elbows. The souffleeCarol's Daughter Shea Souffle Gift Set ($39 Value) is even better. The body washes and perfumes are lovely and have long lasting fragrances. The scents are quite heady and musky (except perhaps Ocean)and I suppose not to everyone's taste.I love them.Carol's Daughter Almond Cookie Shea Souffl?, 16 oz. What I do agree with is that some of the products especially the body oils seem to go rancid quickly. I live in the Caribbean and refrigerate my creams for this reason. The body oils also leave the scent of corn oil on your clothes and towels (like cooking oil). That is my only complaint. I have used the Lisa's Hair ElixirCarol's Daughter Lisa's Hair Elixir as a body and shower oil, as it contains peppermint, good good for sore muscles and very refreshing. I even use the products like the hair butters Carol's Daughter Hair Milkon my baby since birth and would recommend them highly. They are however expensive and difficult to get except at Sephora, the company needs to step up production!
DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!!February 13, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased these products because of the rave reviews I heard from celebrities like Jada Pinkette Smith and Mary J. Blidge. I also wanted to try the products because they're all natural and I wanted to support this African-American company. I was really excited by the packaging and overall look and couldn't wait to indulge in this line of skin care. I purchased the Ecstasy body butter and sea salt scrub because this scent smelled better than the others. Initially, I was really impressed with the sheen effect it had on my African-American, dry skin.
However, I noticed that the products just sits on your skin and don't moisturize or absorb into the skin. Within 30 minutes, the sheen is gone! The scrub was exactly the same, oily initially, then drying moments later. These products have am almost rancid undertone smell (I suppose this is because they're all natural) to them with a hint of the fragrance.
So I WARN you NOT to believe the HYPE! I adore the celebrities that own this company, but remember they'll say anything to SELL their products for a profit. Also, remember, once you purchase these products, you can't return them!!! I would suggest that anyone looking to purchase these overpriced products should first sample them. Additionally, these products try to sell the benefits of Shea and Cocoa Butters, these butters are NOT the main ingredients!! They are listed as the fifth and sixth ingredients.
The cure for dry skinApril 10, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have had dry skin all my life and have had to apply lotion several times a day. All that is behind me now. I use this product once and I'm done for the rest of the day. Ecstasy is great in any form. Shower gel, body oil, souffle or perfume.
