L'Occitane - The Vert au Jasmine Eau de Toilette is a light, sweet fragrance. There are no top, middle and bottom notes that change the fragrance as it dries down. So there are no surprises here; it simply becomes less intense over time. This is a good choice when you want a light, non-offensive fragrance because it's a hot day, or you don't want to take any chances on overpowering a room.
There are similarities between L'Occitane's The Vert and Green Tea By Elizabeth Arden For Women. Eau De Parfum Spray 3.3 Ounces. Both fragrances have a "green tea" note that is more like fresh grass with a touch of mint than it is like brewed or loose green tea.
L'Occitane's The Vert au Jasmine has a very sweet floral note, whereas Arden does not. For me, the floral used here seems quite generic. You'll have to close your eyes and use your imagination if you want to identify it as jasmine.
This is supposed to include some citrus, but I missed that. The only other recognizable note is a hint of cedar. Sometimes I catch that note and it reminds me of pencils - but in a good way.
L'Occitane's The Vert au Jasmine at $44.00 is certainly NOT three times better than Elizabeth Arden's version at $15.00. Arden's Eau de Parfum has a higher concentration of fragrance oils and is longer lasting.
If you can afford L'Occitane's prices then skip L'Occitane and go directly for Aqua Allegoria Herba Fresca by Guerlain for Women 2.5 oz Eau de Toilette Spray, a more sophisticated take on the same idea.
I don't dislike L'Occitane's The Vert au Jasmine. It's just significantly overpriced for an eau de toilette that's nothing special. It gets 2.5 stars from me.
